i have set up this page as my triathlon page.  why?  well...am not sure.  we'll see.  i have signed for a few triathlons and a 1/2 marathon - and at some point i might be looking to raise money for a charity.  what i learned from the shipping aspect of the ton mile blog was to start the blog, worry about where it might end up later.  so here it is.

if you have any suugestions for this portion of the blog - or any insight into triathlon training, send me a note:  mikereardon39@yahoo.com.  i started training in early may -  with my first event being the conroe 1/2 triathlon in november - and am largely training based on what i read online - and input from friends who have done triathlons.  the end goal is the texas iroman.

Back in the Pool

Dr Kevin Coupe of the Woodlands gave me the ok to start swimming yesterday.  I did 10 laps total - 5 breast and 5 free.  The free was easier than the breast - and all told - went better than expected.  Did 90 minutes on the bike and a 1 mile run.  I am still too fat - but am hoping the increased workouts will bring down the weight - even though that didnt work before the injury.

Vinny, Vidi, Vici

Though I finished 2,235th in the Houston Half Marathon, I wore Jet colors with pride - and appreciated the very vocal support from fellow New Yorkers - including the gentleman wearing a Giants t-shirt (and a Giants helmet after the race).  2:07:19 was my final time.  Those betting the over with Jimmy Riley the bookie lost.  True Jet fans will allows be proud of Vinny's effort as a J-E-T.

Houston 1/2 Marathon

I tipped the scales at 221.  Fatso Flanigan.  Have been on the stationary bike a lot - so my leg strength is ok - but we'll see how well my lungs/wind hold up.  Might be hurting down the stretch.  The bigger problem will be my lower back - which has not responded well during the few 1 mile runs I have done the past few weeks.

I would love to say my goal is 2 hours - which i did last year, but that is not realistic.  Jimmy Riley the bookie puts the under/over at 2:27.

TR - Man, Machine, Moment

IronMan veteran Terrence M Rychlik working out to prepare for IronMan Texas on May 19th.  The Ridgefield, CT native likes to listen to Skynyrd's 'Simple Man' while pushing his body to the limit.  "Pain is for people who can't take pain" is the motto that drives this physical freak of nature.

Man versus Crevice (since filled in)

...note the bright orange dark blue/green paint used to warn riders of impending doom if they didnt swerve.  All said - since I was the only rider to pull an Evel Knievel on this Snake River Canyon exceptionally large asphalt ditch, seems I need to pay more attention next time.
